Aviation Engineering Training Centre

The Aviation Engineering Training Centre trains professional soldiers in aviation engineering specialisations. It also provides instruction for students from civilian universities and soldiers undergoing preparatory service. Specialist courses train enlisted personnel for the needs of the Polish Armed Forces.

The centre supplied the key symbols and motifs that would form the basis of its official design. The right panel features the Polish Air Force emblem and a portrait of pilot and observer Bernard Adamecki, the centre's patron. Fighter aircraft and a turbine from the centre's commemorative badge, placed symmetrically on both sides, complete the design.

Colonel Bernard Adamecki, pilot, observer and patron of the centre, graduated from the Infantry Reserve Officer School in 1917. After Poland regained independence in November 1918, he joined the restored Polish Army. He commanded Polish troops in the fighting against Czech forces over Cieszyn Silesia, where he was wounded three times, and served in the Polish–Soviet War. In 1920, at his own request, he transferred to aviation. After completing pilot training in Bydgoszcz, he became a pilot in the 6th Squadron in Kraków.

From 1924, he commanded squadrons at the Air Force Officer School in Dęblin and the 3rd Aviation Regiment in Poznań. He commanded the 35th Line Squadron in 1933–1934 and the 33rd Observation Squadron in 1934–1936. During the interwar period, he also lectured at the Higher Aviation School in Warsaw's Rembertów district. Before the Second World War, he joined the General Staff in Warsaw. During the September campaign of 1939, he served as chief of staff of the Modlin Army's Aviation Command. He was taken prisoner by German forces at the end of September and was released shortly afterwards following efforts by his family.

Colonel Bernard Adamecki received numerous honours: the Gold and Silver Crosses of the Virtuti Militari, the Commander's Cross with Star of the Order of Polonia Restituta, the Order of the Cross of Grunwald, Third Class, the Cross of Valour twice, the Partisan Cross, the Gold and Silver Crosses of Merit and the Home Army Cross.

Ring Face

The centre's badge perfectly fills the circular ring face, giving it an unmistakable character. Turbines from the commemorative badge are positioned symmetrically on both sides.
